Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

Hola!

Dominican Republic had been on my list for some time, and previous plans had been canceled for political reasons, so, years later, I was excited to be headed there for my cousin’s wedding.

We flew into Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) and took a car to the all-inclusive resort, Dreams Macao Beach Punta Cana. It was beautiful but massive, and it took quite a long walk in oppressive heat to get to some areas (especially those accessible to non-members). But being there with and for family made it all worth the journey. They also had a lot of offerings for children, like the kids club and waterpark! This, and the pack-and-play/cribs they provided, was great for our family with young children. The wedding was gorgeous and well-executed, and as long as it occurs just at sunset, it is the perfect location for a tropical/Caribbean destination wedding. Any minute before that, and you will literally melt.

Most of our trip consisted of all that’s inclusive on the resort, but we did get the opportunity to take a ride out on a boat and party a bit on a shallow part of the sea. All of my photos for this post are from this part of the trip – Dreams Macao has enough photos of the resort.

On a return trip to DR, I would venture out more into Punta Cana to get a better feel for the city. This is typically my takeaway whenever I do all-inclusive resort stays.
