Madrid – Revisited and Alcalá, Spain.

Madrid was my first work trip in May 2017, and exactly one year later to the date, we returned. I haven’t visited many cities in foreign countries more than once, but each time that I have, I have aimed to try mostly new things and see places I didn’t the first time. Also, we stayed in Alcalá de Henares instead of central Madrid (Atocha), so I got to explore a new city.

My trip to Madrid this time was much shorter than last, but I made it to new restaurants like the renowned Chocolateria San Ginés where you can get liquid chocolate and churros (didn’t know I needed this combo), a dope art tour/display at La Tabacalera de Lapaviés – a former tobacco factory,  and a street market where you could get the coolest denim jacket but also jeggings. I also made it back around to some of my favorite spots from the first visit like Mercado de San Miguel for the tapas and sangrias, and Parque del Buen Retiro for the aesthetics and people-watching.

Alcalá was a smaller, “more Spanish city,” as described by some. While there, I visited the La Puerta de Alcalá (I’ve deducted that massive gates are popular in Europe) and Alcalá de Henares Centro, where we witnessed a Catholic demonstration of sorts (If you know more information about this, do tell!), and a lovely city center.
