San Pedro, Belize.

The first trip of 2018 was my first trip to Central America. A group of friends and I went to Belize to celebrate a friend’s birthday. Celebrate is an understatement. She had the works: a beautiful, private villa on a secluded island, personal boat transportation, and an extraordinary personal chef. This changed the way I vacation forever. I had withdrawals from his food for weeks.

We didn’t do much within the city; this trip was all about R&R and being with friends. Usually I leave more exhausted from my trips than when I went – vacationing can be draining, if you are more of an active traveler like myself. I am usually running around trying to see as much of the city as I can, doing adventurous activities like parasailing or hiking, and/or going out to experience the nightlife. This time, we woke up when we wanted, ate delicious food, had drinks, slept, ate again, slept again, went into the city to eat and drink again: perfection.

San Pedro itself was charming. We flew into Belize City (BZE) and had to take a ferry to Ambergris Caye to get to San Pedro, and then boat to and from our villa, which was on a nearby island. While there, we went to Coco Loco Beach Bar, dined at Caramba Restaurant (more than once), which had the best inexpensive seafood and our favorite drink “The Panty Dropper”- at least that’s what we kept calling it (actually named Panty Ripper), got full-body massages on the beach for about 60 USD, and did an all gold everything Sunset Dinner Cruise. I want to emphasize that Belize has some of the best food/seasoning I have ever experienced. Upon my departure, I had to buy as much of the seasoning and hot sauce as I could fit. I’d return for the food alone.
