A coworker and I flew into Copenhagen, Denmark and took the train into Helsingborg. The minute I step off the train, a young man is offering to help take my massive suitcase down the stairs. (Who needs escalators, or to pack light?) We walked through the park, headed to our hotel and another young man approaches us and offers to help us get to where we are trying to go. My south side of Chicago instincts made me instantly suspicious, but he really walked us to our hotel while making light conversation about where we’re from, what to do in the area, and went about his way. I had officially decided: Swedes are the nicest people I have ever met!
According to our new friend, there was not much to do in Helsingborg. He was right, but it is a cute town with a few sites to see, so we went to see them. You can see the whole town in a day, which is perfect, because when we travel to places for work, we mostly have that day before the audit begins, and dinners after work. (We could be Yelp review elite by now). We visited the Kärnan and surrounding fortress of Kronborg, we walked the boardwalk, and warmed up a bit at a coffee shop. Later, we had a delicious dinner with fresh seafood being right off of the water. When I return, I want to visit the Museum of Failure (think Blockbuster), and the Dunker Culture House.
